Duck, Duck......Goose!

The other day for FHE in the wad we went to the field near our apartment complex and played a variety of recess games. One of these games a form of duck, duck, goose. For the most part the rules were the same with the small exception that the person who was it carried a squishy ball full or water. The person who was it would go around the circle as normal taping every one's head and saying duck, duck, duck, till he got to the unsuspecting victim, where he would cry out goose! and squeeze the ball drenching the chosen goose.

It was my roommates turn. He went around the circle slowly tapping heads and saying duck, duck, duck. He made it a full time around the circle not choosing anyone. As he came around the second time I knew he was going to choose me. As he got closer and closer and prepped myself for the splash of water and to begin the run around the circle. As he got to me, my guess was right and I got a head full of water as he yelled goose. As I got up from my spot I realized there was probably no chance that I would catch him going around the circle. I then decided to cut through the circle and intercept him. As I cut through and emerged on the other side, I leaped over two girls with surprised looks on their faces, and tackled my roommate. It was all in good fun, but my roommate did begin bleed as an old scab got reopened.

Though this was all in fun, it did get me thinking. How often to over dramatize the little things in our lives and under stress the really important things. How many times do we loose sight of what really matters and our priorities. It was a good reminder to enjoy life as it comes and to keep my life on God's path and with an eye towards heaven.
